Corrie Garrison

Corrie has been gardening for over 4 decades throughout the USA and Japan, but her North Pole, Alaska home proved a special challenge with lots of ancient river bed material and intermittent permafrost. She stumbled onto Straw Bale Gardening in 2010 and tripled her small garden yield with 12 straw bales. Two years later she is tending 50 bales with no tilling, no weeding, no crawling on the cold ground. Her friends and family enjoy the fruits and veggies of her almost labor-less straw bale garden long into an Alaskan arctic winter. Imagine a juicy red tomato with real tomato flavor for Christmas! Corrie also experiments with cold composting, vermicomposting, and fish emulsion fertilizers to improve her sub-arctic garden.
