Me in the newly tamed jungle of the tomatoe plants.
Early June 2015If you like nasturtium then you will be happy to know that they LOVE Straw Bale Gardening. These became HUGE! We had Kale all summer long. We had to use the fence to train the squash vines.

My friend and I are both large, older women who have difficulties getting around, bending and doing the things that are required to make a normal garden.
We were going to try to refurbish our raised beds when we found Joel’s book on Straw Bale Gardens.
Our first thought was “Wow! We can do this!”
All of the benefits of the SBG would allow us to garden again. So we filled our once raised beds with 65 straw bales.  No need to start small.
We did our conditioning and were ready to plant in mid May. Around here no one plants until Labor Day. Our friends scoffed at us, “it’s too early to plant. You’ll lose everything to frost” they said. Well we did have a frost but we simply pulled our plastic over the trellis wire and tucked everything in. Safe and snug.
Our garden started faster, was bigger and more productive then everyone else’s.
We are believers!
Now we want to spread SBG to everyone else.
We are available for classes and guidance.

If we can do this, then so can you.
