Mike Lee, the “new idea” guy

My wife and her best friend own a chemical free, natural cut flower garden that is between 8,000 and 10,000 square feet here in Glen Rose.

Thankfully they allow me to be the “new idea” guy who gets to experiment with things that pertain to the garden that are outside of the box! 🙂

This next year I’ll be focusing on planting different varieties of flowers in starw bales since vegetable gardening has been my focus in the past.

Several years ago I heard of straw bale gardening and I immediately gave it a shot. Since, I’ve experienced success and failure. This year’s INSANE Texas heat (111°+) and last year’s heat AND wind taught me a lot!!! These two years proved to be much more difficult than the prior two.

I have also experimented with growing plants using the following and I plan to incorporate these ideas into straw bale gardening.

1. JADAM

2. LAB and LAB fertilizers

a) straight LAB
b) fish hydroslate made with LAB
c) fertilizer from bananas made with LAB
d) bone meal fertilized made with LAB
c) rabbit manure fertilizer made with LAB
d) chicken manure fertilizer made with LAB
e) cow manure fertilizer made with LAB
f) horse manure fertilizer made with LAB

3. BIOCHAR (that I make) which I inoculate with:

a). various compost teas.
b). LAB
c). JADAM
