I run a small farm called Mayfield Family Farm. Our farm is a holistic, integrative farming system that examines optimal living standards designed to promote sustainagility, self-reliance and community. I am also currently becoming an Agriscaping Certified Educator in the Dallas area. With Agriscaping we teach many methods to incorporate into creating beautiful elegant edible landscapes. Because of my experience with Straw Bale Gardens I incorporate that into the methods I use and teach. In 2015 we experienced record rainfalls and flooding in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. MANY people in our area lost their gardens due to the saturated ground and flooded garden beds. As they were all experiencing flooding we were experiencing a bountiful harvest and awesome growth due to our Straw Bale Garden. After that experience we swore that we would always incorporate SBGs into our farming system. Feel free to contact me so we can discuss your family’s needs and then backplan the perfect garden and edible landscaping for you!

I look forward to meeting you and learning more about being an Agriscaping Certifoed Educator! It never occurred to me that the amount of rain in a season shouldn’t affect a straw bale garden in a significant way!
